Professional Development Points for Re-Accreditation

ASCTA & Swim Australia Teachers are required to accrue 15 Professional Development points over the course of their 3-year Accreditation.   

Providing evidence of these 15 Points is a requirement of applying for a Teacher Re-Accreditation.

Professional Development points can be comprised of the following:

1.1

Maintain ASCTA Membership for 3 consecutive years between Accreditation updates.

15 points

1.2

Attend an ASCTA-approved State / National / International Swim Teachers Conference.

5 points per day – max 15 points

1.3

Attend a lecture or seminar (min. 2hrs duration) on a Swim Teaching topic at an ASCTA-approved conference.

2 points per session – max 10 points

1.4

Complete a World Wide Swim School online module related to Swim Teaching.

1 point per module – max 10 points

1.5

Complete ‘Play by The Rules’ online short courses related to being a Swim Teacher.

2 points per course – max 10 points

1.6

Participate in ASCTA approved in-house Swim School professional development.

Attend a Swim Australia Teacher Course as a refresher.

ASCTA and Swim Australia host several fantastic Professional Development events throughout the course of the year which provide engaging and informative educational sessions, networking and an opportunity to receive up to 5 points per PD Session.

Verification of PD activities may be completed by: (1) Program Organiser, (2) attaching appropriate documentation (i.e. certificate of attendance, enrolment receipt etc) or (3) sign-off by the relevant State or Territory Swimming Association.
